Privacy policy

This policy explains what Editnova ("we") collects when you use editnova.studio and the Editnova app, why, and the choices you have. Editnova is operated by Ranjith Samuel (trading as Editnova), 29, Sivaramu 5th Street, T.N. Puthukudi, Puliangudi, Tenkasi District, Tamil Nadu 627855, India. We follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, country (to show prices in your currency) and your password, which we store only in a scrambled (hashed) form we cannot read.
- Plan and usage: your plan, and a list of the AI actions you've used and their credit cost, so you can see your credit history.
- Payments: handled by our payment partner Razorpay. We receive the payment status and the last digits of the card or UPI ID, never your full card details.
- One sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Your videos and files
Your projects, videos, photos and music are saved on your own device while you edit. They are not uploaded to our servers unless you use a feature that needs them:
- Captions send the sound of your clip to be turned into text.
- Voice-over and writing tools send the text you type.
- AI pictures send your description and any reference images you attach.
This processing is done by OpenAI on our behalf. Under OpenAI's terms for business use, this data is not used to train their AI models. We don't keep copies of your media after the result is returned.
Why we use your data
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To run the features you ask for and count AI credits.
- To process payments and send receipts.
- To answer support requests and send important service messages (not marketing, unless you agree).
- To keep Editnova safe and prevent abuse.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that help run Editnova: OpenAI (AI processing), Razorpay (payments), our hosting provider Hostinger and our email provider Hostinger. We never sell your personal data. We may disclose data if Indian law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is open. When you delete your account we remove it from our servers within 30 days, except records we must keep by law, such as payment invoices (kept for 8 years under Indian tax rules).
Your rights and choices
- Download your data any time from Account settings → Download my data.
- Correct your name from Account settings, or ask us to correct anything else.
- Delete your account from Account settings → Delete account.
- Withdraw consent or raise a complaint with our grievance officer (see Contact us). You may also approach the Data Protection Board of India.
Security
Passwords are hashed, connections use HTTPS, sign-in cookies cannot be read by other websites, and repeated wrong passwords are slowed down. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Children
Editnova is meant for people aged 18 and over, or younger people using it with a parent's or guardian's consent and supervision.
Changes
If we change this policy in an important way, we will tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
